I had the spicy jerk chicken, and it’s the jerk I’ve been searching for since I was last in the islands. Well-balanced flavors with a splash of heat that keeps your lips warm without melting your face. The mac and cheese was creamy with a perfect golden crust, and the little bits of peppers and onions give it a subtle, unique twist. The peas & rice is perfectly cooked fluffy and full of flavor. The best islander food I've ever had! I ordered the barbecue chicken with macaroni & cheese and their rice. It was absolutely delicious! The chicken was moist and super well seasoned. Plenty of barbecue flavor without having a wet skin. Good and crispy. The macaroni and cheese was cooked just right, but the RICE!! That is the part that wowed me too. Normally, rice dishes are dry and kind of a throwaway side at most restaurants, but Island Girl's rice is perfect. It stays fluffy, soft, and there's so much island flavor in there that you wouldn't believe it's rice. I loved it all so much. If I still lived in Ohio, I'd be eating so much more of it, like trying the oxtail and everything... But I certainly won't forget it. This food was made with a lot of love and expertise. I'd recommend it to anyone. ❤️
